Engine The surface of engin bore, where piston slide, has streaks corossing with a certain angle. These streaks act as pits for lubricant and protect from serious seizure.

Groud surface A flat surface is machined by sliding a rotating disk on the surface．Grinding marks are seen (anisotropic surface).

Simulated surface This surface was generated numerically by using a stochastic model which is called "non-causal two dimensional auto-regressive model" that we are proposing as a surface topography model. This surface is random but uniform in statistical sense.
