＊ 観念論とは、日本では、西周（さいあまね）によって、難しい漢塾語に、訳されたとされているが、英語では、Idealism(イデアイズム)無限の「心の世界」である。

観念論

哲学において、①イデアリスム（英：idealism、独語：idealismus、仏語：idéalisme）もしくは、観念論は、さまざまな意味があるが、認識の妥当性に関する説の一つで、

事物の存在と存り方は、当の事物にについてのidea(イデア、観念)によって規定される、という考えから[１]などを指す。

Idealismは、②日本では訳語が一定せず、②存在論においては唯心論、認識論においては観念論、倫理学説においては理想主義と訳し分けられていた。

本記事は便宜的に観念論を見出し語とするが、内容としては印欧語でidealismなどで表現される概念について総合的に解説する。

概説

この語は多義的であり、しかし、現在多く使われているのは、③存在論におけるそれであるにもかかわらず、認識論における観念論と呼ばれることが多い。

認識の妥当性に関する説のひとつで、事物の存在と存り方は、当の事物についてのidea（イデア、観念）によって規定される、という考え方である。

あるいは、[要出典]物質よりも④精神、理性、言葉に優位性を置く理論のことである。

その理論は、⑤思考と外界はお互いにお互いを創造しあうが、そこでは思考が、決定的な役割を持つ、という主張を含んでいる。

⑥ヘーゲルは、歴史は科学と同じように明確に理性に適ったものでなければならないと考えた。

進んで、ジョージ・バークリーやアルトゥール・ショーベンハウアーのように、⑦すべて人間の認識するものは思考に観念の所産（表象）であると考えるものである。

つまり、観念論とは、⑧観念的もしくは精神的なものが外界とは独立した地位を持っているという確信を表すものである。

この主張はしばしば観念的なものが自存し、実在性をもつという主張に結びつく。

例えば、⑨プラトンは、我々が考えることができるすべての性質や物は、ある種の独立した実在であると考えた。

まぎらわしいことに、この種の⑩観念論は、かって実在論（観念実在論）と呼ばれた。

またある思想が観念論に属するかどうかにも、議論が分かれる場合がある。イマヌエル・カントは『純粋理性批判』において、

我々が世界を空間と時間という形で把握するのは人間認識のアプリオリな制約である経験への超越論的制約によるとした。

カント自身は（物自体の存在を要請したが故に）これを観念論とは考えなかったが、純粋理性批判が出版された当時の多くの読者はこれをきわめて観念論的な主張であると考え、

カントは誤解を解くために自説の解説書である『学として現れるであろうあらゆる将来の形而上学のためのプロゴメナ』を出版した。

事物よりも認識主体に内在する構成能力などを重視する立場は、西洋近代哲学において顕著であり、またインド思想でもその傾向が存在する[１]。

観念論と対比される思想に、⑪唯物論がある。

だが、厳密に言うと、超自然的な存在に対するすべての信仰や信念が、唯物論に反対しているわけではない。

多くの宗教的信念は、特に観念論的である。例えばブラフマンを世界の本質とするヒンドゥー教の信仰にたいして、一般的なキリスト教徒の教義では、

キリストの人間としての肉体の実在性と物質的な世界における人間の善生の重要性についてはっきりと述べている。

禅宗は、観念論と唯物論の弁証法的な課程の中間に位置している。

観念（かんねん、英：idea、希：　　）は、プラトンに由来する語（イデア）の近世哲学以降の用法に対する訳語で、

何かあるものに関するひとまとまりの意識内容のこと。元来は仏教用語。

デカルトによって近世哲学的な意味で再導入された。論者によって厳密にいえば定義は異なる。

プラトンのイデアは、客体的で形相的な原型のことであるが、デカルトによって、認識が意識する主観の内的な問題として

捉えなおされたため、イデアは、主観の意識内容となり、以降、この意味での用法のものを観念と訳している。

この客観的な外在としてのイデアから、主観的な内在としての観念への移行は、ちょうど、「Object」がそれまでの

意識対象・意識内容として主観の内的な何かを意味していたものから、外的な主観の対立物ある客観・対象へと移行し、

「Subject」が外的な基体・実体（ヒュボケイメノン）から、主観的で内的な主体へと移行した変化に対応している。

ロックでは観念と物そのものが区別されるが、ロックにとって物そのものは観念の対応物でなく観念を引き起こす原因である。

ヒュームでは観念と知覚印象が区別される。観念は論者によっては感覚的イメージだけを意味することもあり、また概念的で

感覚的ではない観念を含むこともある。バークリーでは観念だけが実在であるとされ、外的な物質の存在は否定される。

仏教では、仏や浄土などを智慧によって対象を正しく見極め、精神を集中して思い考えること。『観仏三味教』

等で勧められている。観想ともいう。
