まえがき

私たちは戦後、荒廃した日本を再建し、豊かな人生を送ることをめざして懸

命に働いてきました。やがて、世界第二位の経済大国となったことで、その願

望は達成されたかのように思えました。ところが、物質的には豊かな生活が実

現できたにもかかわらず、多くの人は満たされず、不安を抱きながら生きてい

ます。それは、人間の生き方や考え方について真剣に考えることなく、また足

ることも、人を思いやることも忘れ、ただ利己的に生きているからではないか

と思います。

いま私たちに必要なことは、「人間は何のために生きるのか」という根本的

な問いに真正面から対峙し、人間としてもっともベーシックな哲学、人生観を

確立することだと考えます。

私たちは、戦前の思想統制の反動から、人間はいかなる思想をもつことも自

由であるといわれ、人間としてあるべき考え方について教えられるこ

とがほとんどありませんでした。

そのために、どのような考え方をもって生きようと自由であり、自分の人生

は誰からの制約もうけずに自分の思うがままに過ごしていきたいと考えるよう

になりました。たしかに、現在の自由な社会ではどのような考え方をもとうと

も自由であり、それは尊重されなければならないでしょう。

しかし、人生に対する考え方により、人生の結果が大きく変わることを、私

たちは理解しなくてはなりません。苦労を厭い、人生をおもしろおかしく過ご

そうとした人や、世をすね、不平不満をもち一生を過ごした人と、高い目標

をもち、それに向かって明るく前向きに、一生懸命努力を重ねてきた人の人生

とのあいだには、大きな差が生じてしまうのです。

どのような考え方をもって人生を歩もうと自由なのですが、その考え方によ

って人生の様相がまったく異なるものになってしまう。つまり「素晴らしい

人生を送る」にはそれにふさわしい考え方があり、それはどのようなものなの

かということを、私たちは知る必要があると思うのです。そして、たとえ自分

・・・・・・・

第一章人間の存在と生きる価値について

「人間は価値ある存在なのか」「この世に生を受け、生きていく意味とはどこ

にあるのか」

そのように「人間」というものに対して核心ををつくような問いを受けたとき、

私は次のように答えています。

「地球上・・・いや全宇宙に存在するものすべてが、存在する必要があって存

在している。どんな微小なものであっても、不必要なものはない。人間はもち

ろんのこと、森羅万象、あらゆるものに存在する理由がある。たとえ道端に

生えている雑草一本にしても、あるいは転がっている石ころ一つにしてもそ

こに存在する必然性があったから存在している。どんな小さな存在であって

も、その存在がなかりせば、この地球や宇宙も成りたたない。存在ということ

自体に、そのくらい大きな意味がある」

①これはたんに観念的に考えたことではありません。サイエンスの世界でも

明らかなことです。それは宇宙を構成するエネルギーの総量は増えもしなければ

減りもせず、つねに一定量に保っているという、「エネルギー不変の法則」に

表れています

たとえば、われわれがものを燃やした場合に、その物質は消えてしまいます

けれども、気体になったものと燃焼して残ったものと熱エネルギーに変わって

いるだけで、そのエネルギーの総量は変わらない。つまり、消えてなくなった

のではなく、エネルギーの総量は一定という枠のなかで、姿・形が変わっているだけなのです。

エネルギーの総量は一定なのですから、無生物であってもどんな小さなもの

であっても、すべてが宇宙を構成するために必要欠くべからざるものなのです。

たとえば、走っていたダンプカーにはねられて側溝に落ちてしまうような道

端の石ころにしても、それでも巨大な宇宙にとって存在する価値があるのです。

何百兆分の一グラムという微細なものが欠落しても、それは宇宙のバランス

を壊すのです。だから不必要なものはない。存在する以上、宇宙を構成する

ために必要なもの、あるいは必然として存在しているのです。

そうゆう意味では、どんな些細なものといえども、不要であるはずがない

逆に何かが余計にあるということもない。それだけで宇宙のバランス崩れて

しまうのです。

また宇宙のなかで「存在する」ということは、あるものが自立的に存在す

るのではなく、すべてが相対的な関係のなかで存在するということになります。

さらに考えを進めていけば、他が存在しているから自分が存在するし、自分が

存在するから他が存在するという相対的なつながりにおいて存在というもの

が成り立っている、ということができます。

これを②「縁があって存在する」というふうにお釈迦様が表現しました。真の

智慧を得た、あるいは心眼を開いたお釈迦様が悟りの境地から宇宙の成り立ち

を捉えた言葉だと思います。お釈迦様は現在の最先端科学で、理解されている宇宙観を、二千五百年前に見通していたのでしょう。

まさに、すべてのものは決して偶然ではなく、存在すべくして存在している

のです。この世に生まれ、存在していることは必然であり、存在するだけで

価値があるのです。

ただし、人間は存在するというだけにとどまりません。知恵をもち、理性を

もち、心をもっているという点で、人間は「万物の霊長」といわれるように、

地球上の生物のなかでもっとも進化したものですから、たんに存在するという

ことを超える大きな価値を内在しているはずです。

それは、③　人間は世のため人のために貢献することができるということではな

いかと私は考えています。

つまり、宇宙という大きなものから見た場合には、何もしなくてもただ存在

するだけで価値があるのですが、意識を持った人間、考えることのできる人間

自分を磨くことができる人間は、たんに存在する以上の価値を生み出すことが

できる、それが世のため人のために尽くすことができるということなのです。

積極的に、地球のために、また人類社会に貢献したいと思い、それを

実現することもできるという点では、人間にしかその可能性はないのです。

ところが、自然を征服しようとし、地球上の他の存在を踏みにじる。あるい

は、他の民族を制圧しようとして、争いに明け暮れる。そうなったとき、あた

ら知恵があり、知識があり、考える力があり、心というものをもっているだけ

に、人間は恐ろしい存在になってしまいます。

存在しているだけならまだしも宇宙のためになったのに、悪い心をもてば人

間はたいへんな害毒を流すことになる。そういう二面性が人間にはあるのです。

ですから、人間が「人間として価値ある存在」となるためには、心、考え方、

知恵と理性といった精神作用の質が大切なのです。

さて、もう少し視点を変えて、一人の人間が誕生するのは偶然なのか、必然

なのかという問題を考えてみたいと思います。そうすることで、さらに人間と

いう存在の価値が明らかになってくるとおもいます。

たとえば、④　稲盛和夫という人間が生まれ、ここに存在するというのは偶然な

のか必然なのか。これも難しい問題です。たとえば、Aという父とBという

母を両親にしてCという子供が生まれたとしましょう。母親Bが排出する卵子

と父親Aが排出する精子の組み合わせは気が遠くなるほどの数があり、そのう

ちの一つが成立してCが誕生したわけですから、それを偶然と考えたほ

I begin to store knowledge in [the heart "soul"] in the words of the intermediary [ as ], mother, and father who also hear an ear.

生れて約１年間で、子供の【心】「精神」は、喜怒哀楽・喜び、悲しみ、罪の意識を、身につけて行く
Born, in about one year, I joy, anger, humor and pathos - Am pleased with it, and a child's [heart] "soul" puts on the consciousness of sadness and a crime, and goes.

食べ物の美味しさで、おいしい！おいしい！ができる、嬉しければ、体で表現をする
it is delicious at the delicacy of food! delicious ! is made -- if glad, the body will express

又、母親に叱られれば、悪い事をしたという罪の意識が顔に表れ、こまったような顔の表情に成る
moreover -- the consciousness of the charge of doing a bad thing when scolded by the mother appears in a face -- こまった -- I grow into the expression of a face [ like ]

子供に、稲盛和夫という名がつけられ、育ち、年齢を、積み重ねる内に、自分という「自我」が【心】に、焼きつく
While the name of Kazuo Inamori is given to a child, and growing up and accumulating age, the "self" of itself is printed on the [heart].

子供の【心】「精神」は、育つ環境（親の性質）によって、いろいろな性質に育つが、親の性質に強く似て行く
Although a child's [heart] "soul" grows up into various character according to the environment (parents' character) where I grow up, I am strongly alike in parents' character, and it goes.

仏教でいう、煩悩は、人間の【心】の「自我」「利己主義」「欲望」が、絡み合った【心】の複雑なマイナスの状態である。
The worldly desires as used in the field of Buddhism are in the state of complicated minus of the [heart] with which "self", the "egoism", and the "desire" of the [heart] of man became entangled.

昔から子供は、親の鏡という言葉があるが、子供の性質は、親に、良く似ているのは、【心】が、環境に同化する証明である。
Although a child has the word parents' "mirror", from ancient times, that a child's character resembles parents well is a proof which the [heart] assimilates to environment.

人間の生と死は、偶然でも必然でもない、生まれることは、神の創造であり、死ぬことは、【心】の判断で、運命が決定する。
raw [ of man ] and death -- by chance -- also coming out -- the born thing which is not necessary, either is creation of God, dying is judgment of the [heart], and I determine fate.

諸行無情とは、形あるものは、必ず滅する、人間の死亡率は１００％・生きても１２０歳が限界である。
all earthly things -- even if man's mortality rate which a 形ある thing certainly destroys as I am heartless 100%- is useful, 120 years old is limits.

愛別離苦とは、お釈迦様の言葉で、愛する人との、死に別れの、【心】「精神」の苦しみを、言い表した言葉である。
Love separation pain is God's words and is the language which described pain of separation by [the heart "soul"] to death with those who love.

ソクラテスの言葉の通り、人間の死で、肉体は土に帰り、霊魂（魂）は、移動して、人間の【心】「精神」に復活する
As Socrates's words, by man's death, flesh returns to the ground, and the soul (soul) moves and I revitalize it to man's [heart] "soul."

無我愛とは、好きが発展して、相思相愛・一心同体・お互いの【心】「精神」が融合して、一つの【心】に成る状態を言う
self-effacement -- good き develops, and mutual love and one in body and mind, and mutual [heart] "soul" unite love, and it means the state of growing into one the [heart]

イエス・キリストの言葉・「愛は神である」とは、人間の死で、肉体が消滅後・【心】「精神」に復活する「魂」である
with words [ of Jesus Christ ] - "love is God", it is man's death -- flesh -- disappearance back - it is the "soul" which I revitalize to [the heart "soul"]

仏教でいう、迂回転生とは、荒廃・腐敗した人間の【心】「精神」は、人間の死で、肉体から離脱して、天国で生成されて、
Man's [heart] "soul" gone to ruin and corrupted is man's death, and the detour transmigration as used in the field of Buddhism secedes from flesh, and is generated in Heaven,

新しくこの世に、生まれて来る、人間の、素直（純情）（穢れの無い）な【心】「精神」として、肉体に宿って来る。
I dwell in flesh newly as the [heart] "soul" gentle [ of man ] (purehearted) (there is no impurity) born to this world.

哲学の「存在論」とは、人間自体の存在を、問うのではなく、「魂」の存在を証明するための、重要な課題である。
Philosophical "ontology" is an important subject for proving existence of a "soul" rather than asking existence of man itself.
