ルネ・デカルト (仏：Rene Descartes、１５９６年３月３１日―１６５０年２月１１日)はフランス生れの哲学者、数学者。

合理主義哲学の祖であり、近世哲学の祖として知られる。

概要

① 考える主体としての自己（精神）とその存在を定式化した「我思う、ゆえに我あり」は哲学史上でもっとも有名な命題の一つである。

そしてこの命題は、当時の保守的思想であったスコラ哲学の教えであるところの「信仰」による真理の獲得ではなく、

イマヌエル・カント（Immanuel Kant、１７２４年４月２２日ー１８０４年２月１２日）は、ドイツの哲学者、思想家。

プロイセン王国出身の大学教授である。『純粋理性批判』『実践理性批判』『判断力批判』の三批判書を発表し、批判哲学を提唱して、

認識論における、いわゆる「コペルニクス的転回」をもたらす。ドイツ観念論哲学の祖ともされる。

思想

概説　一般にカントの思想はその３つの批判の書にちなんで批判哲学と呼ばれる。

しかし、カント自身はみずからの批判書を哲学と呼ばれるのを好まなかった。カントによれば、批判哲学のための準備・予備学であり、

批判の上に真の形而上学としての哲学が築かれるべきなのである。

ドイツ観念論はカントのこの要求にこたえようとした試みであるが、カントはこれをあまり行為的には評価しなかった。

また、ドイツ観念論の側でもカントを高く評価しながら、物自体と経験を分離したことについてカントを不徹底とも評価し、

いわば、カントを克服しようとしたのである。

カントの思想は以下の３つの次期に区分される。

前期批判

『純粋理性批判』刊行前、初期の自然哲学論考から就職論文『可感界と知性界について』まで
